Biography

Callum studied BMus and MA Music at the University of Birmingham. He is a senior lecturer at Performers College Birmingham and SOTE Foundation College. His work at these schools includes one-to-one singing lessons, ensemble singing classes, repertoire and ATS classes, supervision and arrangements for devised projects and medleys, and musical direction of end of year productions and showcases.


Since 2024, he has been resident musical director at the Old Joint Stock Pub & Theatre. He led the UK premiere of The Mad Ones by Kerrigan & Lowdermilk, continuing as MD for its month-long transfer to The Other Palace Studio in May 2025, with director Emily Susanne Lloyd.

He was musical director & supervisor for Be More Chill in August 2025, which is currently nominated for Best Studio Production in the 26th Annual WhatsOnStage Awards.

With artistic director James Edge, Callum has co-created a series of acclaimed cabaret concerts for the venue: I Screamed a Scream; A Little Bawl of Pain; Do You Hear The People Singalong; and most recently Sleigh Misérables, which received exclusively 5-star reviews.


Callum is a regular MD for BMOS Musical Theatre Company, one of the oldest operatic societies in the UK. In July 2024, he conducted their sold-out run of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In 2025 he was AMD/Keys 1 for their sold-out run of Les Misérables: Let The People Sing, celebrating the show’s 40th anniversary. In June 2026, he will be MD and Keys 1 for their production of We Will Rock You, onstage with a live rock band at The Alexandra, Birmingham.

He also works frequently with Dynamik Theatre, an award-winning group specialising in small-cast contemporary works. In 2023, Dynamik took Spring Awakening to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with an intimate and visceral staging, complete with a fully-costumed four-piece rock band. Callum conducted and played the show onstage, from memory, as well as playing the joint role of Georg/Dieter.


Callum is in constant demand as an accompanist for auditions, rehearsals and classes, with extremely advanced skills in sight-reading across a range of repertoire including musical theatre, classical and popular musics.
